Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures Ltd, Trading as Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures.
Please read the Terms and Conditions of Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures prior to booking your sailing tour. By booking a tour, either by the Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures online booking form, by direct ticket booth sales, over the phone, through another operator or agent you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
Check In
Please ensure that you check in at least 30 minutes prior to your sailing departure. Departure times vary according to the tour purchased. It is the customers sole responsibility to seek out correct departure and check in information upon booking.
Payments
We accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, please phone us with your details or complete the secure online booking form. Credit Card Surcharge fees may apply. Direct payment to our bank account is also accepted, details provided upon request.
Scheduled Tours
Full payment is taken at time of booking via the Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures secure online booking form.
Multi-Day Exclusive Charter
A deposit payment of one half (50%) of the total charter fee is payable to secure a Multi-Day Private Charter booking reservation. A second payment of 25% total charter fee is required 60 days prior to booking charter date, with the final payment of 25% total charter fee required 30 days prior to charter. Multi-Day Private Charter bookings made within 30 days of charter date require total charter fee payment in full to secure the booking. Payments made via credit card may incur additional service fees.
Day or Part Day Exclusive Charter
Private Day and Part Day Charters may be paid in full upon booking at customer request. A 50% deposit payment is otherwise required upon booking to secure a reservation. The final payment is due prior to charter. Payments made via credit card may incur additional service fees.
Prices
Prices are New Zealand dollars and include Goods & Service tax. All prices specified by Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures shall be subject to change at any time by Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures due to seasonal adjustment, changes in the price of operations or other operators altering their prices at any stage. Any price changes applicable to your booking will be promptly notified to you by Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures. The price of your tour or other travel arrangements shall not change after the date on which payment has been made in full by you in relation to your booking.
Public Holiday Surcharges may apply. Any surcharges will be notified at time of booking.
Cancellations
Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures reserve the right to reschedule, reroute or cancel a trip due to weather, customer safety, if minimum numbers are not reached, or for other reasons. The minimum numbers for our scheduled day sailing tours are 4 -6 Adults (trip dependent); private charter tours may be arranged if such a cancellation should occur. Cancellations on sailing tours made by Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures will be refunded as per time affected.
If a change to your booking is required please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to meet your needs, however we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee if any part of the activity is cancelled as per the terms described below. Transaction fees may also apply.
Cancellation Scheduled Day Tours
Customers booked on scheduled day tours who cancel with more than 24 hours before sailing departure will receive a full refund. Customer cancellations made within 24 hours of departure result in no refund of bookings made.
Cancellation Day or Part Day Exclusive Charter
Refund, less 10% of charter price retained as a cancellation fee, are given to customers who cancel a Private Day or Part Day Charter with more than 30 days’ notice. Cancellations and changes made between 30 days to 15 days before charter date will be refunded less 30% of the total charter fee, which is reserved by Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures as a cancellation fee. No refund is given to cancellations made within 14 days of the booking date.
Cancellation Multi-day & Overnight Charters
Cancellations on multi-day & overnight tours made prior to 90 days before charter will be refunded less 10% of total charter fee. Cancellations made 90 – 60 days before multi-day or overnight charter will be refunded less a cancellation fee of 30% of total charter cost. Customers cancelling 59 – 30 days before charter will be refunded 50% of the total charter cost. Cancellations made with less than 30 days result in no refund, full payment due.
Covid-19 Cancellations: If New Zealand government travel restrictions do not allow you to travel on your booked day, we allow you to change, hold or refund the affected time on board.
Lunches
There are no shops of cafes visited once on board in the Abel Tasman National Park, it is the customers responsibility to ensure that meals are included in their chosen tour or they have bought their own. Lunches must be ordered at time of booking, including noting any dietary restrictions. Whilst we try to accommodate most notified special dietary requirements, this is not always possible. Lunches ordered are non-refundable or transferable.
Safety
The skipper is responsible for all safety decisions. All skippers are commercially qualified and are Maritime New Zealand certified. They are certified First Aiders. All vessels are Maritime New Zealand surveyed. They are externally audited to ensure systems and operating procedures are of highest standards. There is a documented maintenance program and all gear is maintained regularly. Clients must inform Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures of any pre-existing medical conditions that may affect their enjoyment or time on board, prior to trip departure. Adults must ensure children in their care follow the instructions of the skipper. Skipper’s instructions must be followed at all times.
Weather
Overcast, drizzle or rain will not mean cancellation of the trip. We expect clients to honor their booking. We reserve the right to reschedule, reroute or cancel a trip due to weather, customer safety or other reasons. If we cancel the trip we will refund the time affected. For cancelled trips we will try to re-book on an alternative day. We cannot guarantee that there will be sufficient wind for sailing on your chosen day with us, however we will endeavor to reroute the day to focus on sightseeing and other activities.
Liability
All care will be taken by Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures when handling client’s equipment and belongings. Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures accepts no responsibility for any loss or additional expenses arising from changes, delays or cancellations of the services and activities of the tours. Under all circumstances the client is responsible for their personal equipment and belongings, we recommend clients have their own up-to-date travel insurance arrangements in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Changes to Terms & Conditions
Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time without notifying users of this site.
Competitions
Terms and Conditions for; Go in the Draw to Win 1 Hour Free Charter Time on board a Nelson Harbour Function.
1. Eligibility
1.1. Entry is open to individuals aged 18 years or older.
1.2. Employees, agents, and immediate family members of Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures are not eligible to enter.
2. Entry Period
2.1. The competition opens on 21 August 2024 at 10 AM NZST and closes on 30 September 2024 at 10PM NZST.
2.2. Entries received outside this period will not be eligible.
3. How to Enter
3.1. To enter the draw, participants must book and secure their Nelson Harbour Function by paying a 50% deposit. A minimum of 3 hours sailing time is required.
4. The Prize
4.1. The prize is an additional one hour of free charter time on a Nelson Harbour Function, with Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures. Can be an earlier departure or later return time and depends on availability of surrounding bookings.
4.2. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash or other services.
4.3. The prize must be used before 24 December 2024, unless another date as agreed in writing with Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures.
5. Winner Selection
5.1. The winner will be chosen randomly from all eligible entries.
5.2. The draw will take place on 1 October 2024.
5.3. The winner will be notified by email within 48 hours of the draw.
6. Claiming the Prize
6.1. The winner must claim the prize and confirm the change in time of the booking within 7 days of being notified
6.2. If the prize is not claimed within this period, a new winner will be selected.
7. General Conditions
7.1. Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures reserves the right to modify or cancel the competition at any time.
7.2. By entering, participants agree to these terms and conditions.
7.3. Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures is not responsible for any technical issues that may affect entry.
8. Privacy
8.1. Participants' personal information will be used solely for the purposes of this competition and in accordance with Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures privacy policy.
8.2. By entering, participants consent to the use of their name and likeness for promotional purposes without additional compensation.
9. Governing Law
9.1. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
9.2. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
